Route Barrée

Route BarreeA few days ago, a car hit a utility pole outside the front gate. The pole didn't fall over, but it was severely damaged and is now held up by a couple of wire hawsers. The electricity company closed the road with Route Barrée signs. Around here, speed limits and road signs like No Entry, No Left Turn and so on are routinely disregarded, so traffic continues past the gate. If anything, it has speeded up, so that drivers can escape if challenged. We don't expect a new pole until well into the new year. Meantime, if the damaged pole falls onto another car, the electricity company will be absolved of any liability.
