ETA

ETAhideoutTurn right out of my gate, walk less than a kilometre and voilĂ  - you come to a police barrier. Yesterday morning, four presumed ETA members were arrested here, together with bomb detonators and 200 kilos of explosives. It's believed that the mastermind of the Madrid railway bombing was one of the four.

As Cahors is a left-wing enclave (there's even a flourishing branch of the Communist Party), the presence of revolutionaries is hardly news, but the socialist Press points out that ETA seeks to install the Basque bourgeoisie and is ultimately regressive, so go figure. Perhaps the large Spanish and Portuguese presence here provided cover for the group.

Police have been interviewing the several owners of local rental properties who were offered a year's rent in cash in advance by strangers.
